JOHN DAVID SCHOONENBERG, J.D., LL.M

John David “JD” Schoonenberg has been with the Gachassin firm since 2019 and has practiced law for over 45 years. He received his BA from Nicholls State University in 1972, his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University in 1975, and his LLM in International Taxation from St. Thomas University in 2003. His areas of practice include Medical Malpractice and State & Local Taxation.

John is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Terrebonne Parish Bar Association and the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys. He is also board certified in medical malpractice by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys.

He was born, raised, and still resides in Houma, LA with his wife of over 40 years. On the weekends, you can find John playing a round or two of golf. He also enjoys learning more about his Cajun roots and is a French-language enthusiast.
